Xi Jinping congratulates Joe Biden on his election

Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Joe Biden on his election as US President and expressed his hope to promote bilateral relations.

Xi said the US-China "should not conflict or confront, should respect each other and keep the spirit of cooperation for mutual benefit" to promote the "noble goal" of world peace and development.

"The healthy and stable development of the US-China relationship is in line with the basic interests of the two peoples," Xi's telegram wrote.

Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan also congratulated Biden's "deputy general", Kamala Harris, on his election as the next US vice president.

Joe Biden on 7/11 was named by the US media as the winner of this year's White House race.

After days of delays, Director of Public Services (GSA) Emily Murphy said on November 23 that the Trump administration was ready to kick off the transition, the first step showing it recognized failure.

US-China relations are at their lowest level in decades with tensions over a range of issues such as technology, the South China Sea issue, Xinjiang, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
